Job Description

The AV Technician is responsible for the preparation, installation, operation, troubleshooting, and dismantling of audio-visual equipment for live events, rentals, and productions. The role ensures that all equipment is delivered in excellent working condition, installed safely and correctly on site, and operated to a professional standard to meet client expectations.

The AV Technician works closely with the Warehouse Team, Project Managers, and On-Site Engineers to ensure smooth event execution while maintaining high technical and safety standards.

Responsibilities

1. Equipment Preparation & Warehouse Duties

  • Prepare, test, and pack audio, lighting, LED, and video equipment for rental jobs.

  • Conduct pre-deployment quality checks and basic configuration.

  • Ensure correct labeling, cabling, and documentation.

  • Assist with stock control, asset tagging, and maintenance reporting.

  • Report damaged or missing equipment.

2. On-Site Installation

  • Install audio systems (speakers, amplifiers, mixers, DSPs).

  • Set up lighting systems (fixtures, DMX lines, controllers).

  • Install LED screens, video walls, projectors, and screens.

  • Run and manage signal, power, and control cabling safely.

  • Follow rigging and safety procedures during setup.

3. Operation During Events

  • Operate basic audio, lighting, or video systems as required.

  • Monitor system performance and respond quickly to technical issues.

  • Maintain professional conduct when dealing with clients and event teams.

4. Dismantling & Return

  • Safely dismantle equipment after events.

  • Check equipment condition before returning to warehouse.

  • Ensure proper packing and documentation of returned items.

5. Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.

  • Assist senior engineers with repairs and system testing.

  • Maintain tools and personal equipment in good condition.

1. Equipment Preparation Accuracy

Objective: Ensure jobs leave the warehouse complete and correctly prepared.

Measured By:

  • % of jobs dispatched without missing equipment

  • Number of prep-related site issues

  • Checklist compliance rate

Target:

  • ≥ 98% jobs dispatched error-free

  • Zero major missing-item incidents per quarter


2. On-Site Installation Quality

Objective: Install systems correctly, safely, and according to plan.

Measured By:

  • Number of installation-related technical faults

  • Cable management and neatness (supervisor score)

  • Compliance with rigging and safety standards

Target:

  • < 2 technical faults per quarter attributable to installation

  • ≥ 90% supervisor quality score


3. Equipment Care & Asset Protection

Objective: Minimize damage and extend asset lifespan.

Measured By:

  • Damage incidents linked to technician handling

  • Proper packing compliance

  • Reporting of faults before deployment

Target:

  • Zero negligence-related damage

  • 100% damaged equipment reported immediately


4. Event Performance & Troubleshooting

Objective: Maintain smooth operation during live events.

Measured By:

  • Response time to issues on site

  • Downtime during events

  • Client/PM feedback

Target:

  • Immediate response (<5 minutes for critical issues)

  • Zero preventable system failures


5. Time Management & Efficiency

Weight: 10%

Objective: Complete tasks within allocated timeframes.

Measured By:

  • Adherence to load-in/load-out schedule

  • Prep time vs planned time

  • Attendance and punctuality

Target:

  • ≥ 95% punctual attendance

  • Jobs completed within scheduled timeframe


6. Teamwork & Communication

Weight: 10%

Objective: Maintain professional collaboration.

Measured By:

  • Supervisor feedback

  • Peer feedback

  • Communication clarity with PM and warehouse team

Target:

  • ≥ 8/10 teamwork rating


7. Professional Conduct & Client Interaction

Weight: 5%

Objective: Represent the company professionally on site.

Measured By:

  • Client feedback

  • Dress code and behavior compliance

  • No complaints from clients

Target:

  • Zero client conduct complaints


8. Continuous Learning & Skill Development

Objective: Improve technical capability.

Measured By:

  • Participation in internal training

  • Certification progress

  • Ability to handle more complex systems over time

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of audio, lighting, and video systems.

  • Familiarity with DMX, signal flow, and power distribution.

  • Ability to read basic technical drawings or equipment lists.

  • Physically fit and able to lift equipment safely.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

  • Valid driving license (preferred).
